View sale catalog. 2013 GJLF Scholarship Recipients The Georgia Junior Livestock Foundation presented six scholarships to students during the Georgia Junior State Livestock Show in February. One scholarship of $1,500 was presented to Tyler Claxton of Perry in memory of Lee Harris Jr. and five $1,000 scholarships were presented to LeAnna Miller of Sylvania, Samantha Strickland of Perry, Hannah Porter of Chatsworth, Gibson Priest of Carterville, and Timothy Hubbard of Calhoun. These scholarships were awarded to students who have shown beef, dairy, swine, sheep or goats at the state show at least once during their four years of high school. View the 2013 recipients. The GJLF is pleased to offer the Lee Harris Jr. Memorial Scholarship to a deserving student actively involved in the Georgia junior livestock program beginning in 2013. Lee served as a GJLF Board of Director and had a true passion for the junior livestock industry and the youth involved. The livestock industry lost a true friend on June 23, 2012 when Lee passed away from a farming accident. Due to request from friends of Lee’s, the GJLF is providing an opportunity for contributions to be made directly to the GJLF Lee Harris Jr. Memorial Scholarship fund. These tax deductible donations will be used to create a perpetual scholarship program that will be the hallmark of the GJLF’s program annually. All donors will be recognized for their support of this program. If you would like to make a contribution to the GJLF Lee Harris Jr. Memorial Scholarship, please return the Memorial Scholarship donation form to the GJLF office. 2012

you to Randy & Beth Daniel of Partisover Ranch for donating two
embryo packages in their sale yesterday to the GJLF! The first package
was purchased by Jimmy & Jan Scott and Rob & Kelly Postin
for $1,950. The second package was purchased by Greg Bennett of Katie
Colin Farm for $1,650. Thank you to our donors and sponsors. A total

The
GJLF was pleased to assist with the second annual Georgia National
Fair Legislative Showdown. The event gathered legislative officials
who serve on the Georgia Senate and House Ag Committees to show
off their skills in the show ring. Each elected official was paired
with a FFA and 4-H member to learn about showing livestock and
how to prepare their calf for the show ring. Then it was off to
the arena to show what skills they had learned. At the end of the
event the GJLF presented a framed photograph of each legislator
with the FFA or 4-H member who assisted them.
